Samaritan Center, a facility for homeless families, is a long-term transitional residence focusing on life skills development. The primary goal is the promotion and development of healthy family values, leading to successful re-entry into mainstream society The program offers intensive case management that includes emotional support, parenting classes, medical referrals, advocacy, mental health counseling, life skills workshops, finance management, domestic skills training, anger management, conflict resolution and a variety of other educational activities. The families served by Samaritan Center must agree, by contract, to participate in a structured and intensive program where each member of the family is directed, assisted and encouraged to develop the foundation skills needed to improve their life situation. The client must be a resident of Indian River County and at least one member of the family must be over the age of 18. Eligible families must have a child or children or be expecting a child, must be homeless or living in unsafe conditions and family members must be free of current drug/alcohol abuse.
