U.S. Department of Education
as a “No Child Left Behind-
Blue Ribbon School”

MEDIA ADVISORY

About The Award:

The No Child Left Behind—Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.

The program requires schools to meet specific criteria such as being in the top 10% in the state in mathematics and reading assessments. Nationally recognized, the schools are awarded for their academic achievement as some of America's best. The award acknowledges the hard work of students, staff members, families, parishioners and the community.

Of the more than 120,000 public and private schools in the United States, only 296 were honored in 2005 with the “No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Award.”

As the only school in South Florida to receive this award in 2005, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School of Boca Raton is proud to be among an elite group singled out for achievement.

About The School

St. Joan of Arc Catholic School is a rich and unique community of heritage, faith and academic excellence. The school was founded by parishioners with the Sisters of Mercy from County Cork, Ireland in 1960, and has grown from a small warehouse school of 70 students to a modern day facility accommodating over 600 students.

The school which consists of Pre K - 8, stresses academic excellence at all levels and prepares students at such a high level that many are eligible for advanced courses in English, math, history, Spanish and science at the high school level.

The school has made a total commitment to help children who are struggling academically to reach their full potential. Special reading and math teachers are on staff to assist those with difficulties in these subject areas so that every effort is made to ensure that no child is left behind.
