Blue
Mass in Commemoration of September 11th
September 11, 2006 marks the fifth anniversary of the devastating
terrorist attack on the United States of America. The Most Reverend
Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito will be the main celebrant and homilist
at a “Blue Mass” in commemoration of the September 11th tragedies.
All are invited to prayerfully join together in remembrance of those
who lost their lives on that dreadful day as we continue to pray for
peace, protection from evil and
for the men and women who give in service each day defending
freedom.
The
Mass will take place at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in
Jensen Beach, FL on Monday September 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the main
church on 2555 NE Savanna Road. State and local officials as well as
law enforcement personnel will be in attendance. Following The Mass
there will be a procession across the street to Fire Station # 16
where there will be special presentation of a commemorative piece of
sculpture created by artist Timothy Schmalz. The sculpture depicts,
hidden in its wings, a city and fire personnel.
Media coverage is welcome. News cameras will be allowed inside the
