Responsibilities:
• Regular (daily, weekly) web updates from various diocesan offices and ministry departments to keep the page/information current as well as long-term planning for ongoing development of the diocesan homepage site and new sites for special ministries, special events etc. as needed. This includes news releases, Bishop’s releases and communications, the creation and maintenance of an online calendar of events, pod casting, video slide shows etc.
• In addition to external communications, webmaster will create and maintain an inter-office intranet site, video/still picture archive system.
• Program and upload pages to the website.
• Ensure that the website is accessible from a variety of different environments.
• Ensure that images are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.
• Create image links and ensure that the links are up to date.
• Troubleshoot and repair bugs and problems.
• Provide and analyze traffic statistics and generate reports.
• Webmaster should be a self-starter and good communicator with collaborating offices within the pastoral center offices and with collaborating entities (ie: Florida Catholic Conference, the Florida Catholic Newspaper etc.)
• Webmaster collaborates for the promotion of the site to appropriate internal and external audiences through contact with parish webmasters and outside entities, organizing information events, encouraging the promotion of the site through other departmental communications vehicles etc.
• In addition, the webmaster will be asked to handle graphic design elements for various projects on occasion. Communications items which will be used as cross promotion.
• Candidate should be prepared to present resume, references and samples of previous work.
This is a sampling of duties. Other tasks, responsibilities and duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
• The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who is knowledgeable in the life of the Church and who wants to use their web skills to further the message of the Gospel.
• Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, including Front Page, Photoshop, and related website technologies
• Knowledge of html, dhtml, CSS, PHP, ASP, JAVA, Front Page Extensions, web page creation, and web site maintenance.
• Knowledge of Web Server technologies, Internet, Intranet, ftp, telnet, Relational Databases, and internet software.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products including Access, SQL server, and Share Point.
• Skill in computer graphic layout design
• Skill in the use of computerized page layout and design software
• Ability to evaluate new and evolving website technologies.
• Understanding of internet operations, functionality, and a wide range of internet programming and design tools.
• Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
• Proofreading and editing skills
• Attention to detail and able to work independently.
• Able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, department heads, representatives of other agencies, and the general public.
• Excellent telephone and people skills.
• Adhere to the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality.
• Ability to make responsible judgment calls and able to deal with deadlines & changes.
Education Requirements:
• 4 year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of Web design and development for a Corporate Web site.
