One Entrance to the Pastoral Center & Cathedral to be Closed as Next Phase of Construction Begins

A new phase of construction beginning Monday, November 13, on the shared grounds of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola and the Pastoral Center will change the way parishioners and visitors can enter the property. Beginning on the 13th, a construction gate will be in place which will prevent any traffic from entering the property from the Holly Drive entrance (which is the north entrance to the property). Instead, all traffic will have to enter the property from the south entrance drive off Military Trail. This south entrance is located shortly below Holly Drive.

The construction gate at the Holly Drive entrance will remain closed Monday through Fridays, forcing all visitors to the Cathedral and to the Pastoral Center to use the south entrance.  Those attending weekday Masses or events at the Cathedral will have to utilize the south entrance. However on Saturdays and Sundays the construction gate at the Holly Drive entrance will be open to make it easier for parishioners attending weekend Masses at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola.

Additionally, during all phases of the construction, the entrance to the Cathedral's Chapel in which daily Mass is held will change. The only entrance and exit to the Chapel will be through the Cathedral doors on the parish patio. Construction fencing will prevent anyone from exiting the Chapel to the west parking lot.

Those attending Mass or an event at the Cathedral will still be able to access the circular drop-off area in front of the Cathedral but will not be able to travel west out of the circle to the parking lot behind the Cathedral. Motorists instead will have to travel through the parking lot located in front of the Pastoral Center to that west parking lot. Those who are handicapped or require close parking are encouraged to utilize the parking lot in front of the Pastoral Center.  This is especially encouraged for those who attend daily Mass in the Chapel.

This phase of work, considered the third phase of construction, is part of the work needed to be completed before the expected construction can begin of the Cathedral's new Family Life Center. Prior phases included redoing/expanding the parking lot in front of the Pastoral Center as well as work on the employee parking lot behind the center.

The Diocese of Palm Beach plans to keep visitors updated on the plans and parking availability on its website and will also post updates on its Facebook page. The Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola started informing parishioners of the construction gates and traffic flow at its weekend Masses November 11 & 12, and placed information on its website and Facebook page.

For questions about the construction at the Cathedral, please contact the Parish Office at 561-622-2565. For questions about the parking for Pastoral Center visitors, please call 561-775-9500.

The work is expected to take several months to complete. We apologize for any inconveniences but it's necessary work to expand the work we do for the Church of God.
