Save the Date: Special Pilgrimage for Grandparents
July 26 is the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of our Blessed Mother and grandparents of Jesus. In honor of the grandparents of Jesus, we invite all of our grandparents to SAVE THE DATE of Saturday October 22 for the Annual Grandparents Pilgrimage and Mass. This year’s celebration which falls during the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, will include a special pilgrimage trip, Mass celebrated by Bishop Barbarito and the opportunity to pass through the diocesan Year of Mercy Holy Doors to receive the Jubilee Plenary Indulgence. Details will be available later in August. Sponsored by the Diocese of Palm Beach Office of Marriage & Family Life and Diocese of Palm Beach Chapters of the Catholic Grandparents Association.

(*Please note the Catholic Charities of Central Florida second assistance office opened on June 20 and at time of press release was expected to remain open through at least early July. However, the first assistance office is expected to remain open longer, and those needing long-term case management will continue to use the services available through the offices of Catholic Charities Central Florida)

Donate to Catholic Charities Fund to Help Orlando Shooting Victims
Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Palm Beach announce a fund set up and run by Catholic Charities Central Florida to provide assistance to the victims and families of the tragic shooting in Orlando. Catholic Charities Center of Central Florida used $20,000 to establish the fund to assist to provide case management and supportive services to those affected, and are seeking additional donations. Money donated to the fund will be used to support the continued work of Orlando Catholic Charities to provide counseling/comfort to families; arrange/assist with funeral plans or help with funeral costs; help family members arriving out of town; provide financial support to those families in which the sole income provider of the family was killed or injured; provide translating services and much more.

Since the June 12 shooting counselors and staff of Catholic Charities of Central Florida and the Diocese of Orlando have been providing pastoral care to survivors and victims and family members. This assistance includes helping out at two Orlando Family Assistance Centers. Please continue to keep the families and workers in your prayers.
