Continuing a tradition dating more than 20 years, school children from St. Anastasia Catholic School in Fort Pierce helped the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Palm Beach, and diocesan staff to welcome the Christmas Holiday at the Pastoral Center, the administrative headquarters for the diocese. The children sang Christmas carols and helped decorate the tree in the lobby of the Pastoral Center. The children brought with them decorations made by fellow students to adorn the tree. Bishop Barbarito blessed the tree before the tree lighting.
The student choir was comprised of 7th and 8th graders from the St. Anastasia’s senior choir called Singers 4 the Son.
The diocese’s tradition is that each year a different school within the diocese’s five counties is chosen for the tree lighting. The students make decorations for the Pastoral Center’s tree and sing Christmas Carols. This year’s theme is “Let Heaven and Nature Sing.”
