Seminaries Once a
candidate is accepted into the Diocese of Palm Beach, he is sent
to the seminary for his formation. "The Church continues to
place the highest value on the work of priestly formation,
because it is linked to the very mission of the Church,
especially the evangelization of humanity ." As Pope John Paul
II puts it, seminary formation can be described as " a
continuation in the Church of the apostolic community gathered
about Jesus, listening to his word, proceeding towards the
Easter experience, awaiting the gift of the Spirit for the
mission ." Although the Diocese of Palm Beach may use other
seminaries, Saint John Vianney College Seminary in Miami and
Saint Vincent De Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach are the
main seminaries used by the Diocese for the formation of its
seminarians. Those that come to the Diocese without a college
degree are sent to Saint John Vianney. All other candidates are
sent to Saint John Vianney for pre-theology before they begin
their theological studies at Saint Vincent De Paul Regional
Seminary in Boynton Beach. For reasons determined by the
Diocese, seminarians may be sent to other seminaries, such as
Christ the King in Hales Corner, Notre Dame Seminary in New-Orleans.
