IT Network Support Technician - Pastoral Center

The Diocese of Palm Beach Pastoral Center is searching for a full time IT Network Support Technician. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, upgrade, and support Pastoral Center PCs, operating systems, hardware, software and peripherals
  • Maintain and support Microsoft Windows Server Family, including (but not limited to)
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 through Windows Server 2019
  • Microsoft EAC & Microsoft Outlook Client Technologies
  • Microsoft File and Print Services and Office 365
  • Maintain and support TCP/IP based network, including (but not limited to)
  • Routers
  • Gateways
  • Cable modems
  • Switches
  • Maintain and support Pastoral Center internal email system
  • Maintain and support Pastoral Center Sonicwall firewall
  • Maintain and support Microsoft Active Directory and Azure AD including support for user security and global policies
  • Administer and maintain backup infrastructure and associated backup/recovery methods
  • Maintain Microsoft Access Databases, SQL, and Visual Basic (but not limited to)
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining network and IT systems policies, procedures and related documentation as needed
  • Maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting Pastoral Center telephone system
  • Coordinating employee remote access and/or laptops.  Provide, install, and train on software required for remote access.
  • Acting as resource person and Level 1(Help Desk) and Level 2 (Resolve the Issue) support for Diocese of Palm Beach parishes, schools, and other Diocesan entities outside the Pastoral Center on a limited basis, i.e., offering telephone assistance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years successful work experience with above duties
  • LAN certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of a complete network and IT systems environment, including protocols (TCP/IP), equipment, services (DNS), etc.
  • Excellent network configuration and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Active Directory and Azure configuration and maintenance
  • Experience with desktop and server virus detection and prevention
  • Experience with Docuware a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Edge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls
  • Excellent and professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills and ability to work one on one with employees
  • Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public
  • Adhere to the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality and able to exercise discretion and good business judgment
  • Keeping current on developing technology, trends, etc. and remaining technically competent

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
  • Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
  • Frequent use both hands and fingers (i.e. typing)
  • Frequent extended periods of sitting
  • Occasional periods of standing, kneeling and climbing
  • Occasional ability of minimal hearing (i.e. driving) and routine hearing (i.e. listening to others in conversation)
  • Occasional time spent working closely with others
