Ministry Assistant (Part Time 30 hrs. per week Benefits Eligible) - Pastoral Center
The Diocese of Palm Beach Pastoral Center (Department of Marriage, Family Life, Faith Formation, and Youth Ministry), located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL is searching for a Part Time benefits eligible (30 hours per week) Ministry Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides general administrative & hospitality support for the Office of Marriage, Family Life, Faith Formation & Youth Ministry, including answering phones, processing mail, preparing mailings, ordering supplies, copying, maintaining the general Office calendar, scheduling meetings & formation events, registering attendees, arranging catering, & other support as needed.
- Develops flyers and other promotional materials for various events sponsored by the Office of Marriage, Family Life, Faith Formation & Youth Ministry.
- Develops posts and maintains our presence on social media.
- Helps maintain & update our webpages to stay current.
- Assists Director with preparing for Pastoral Center Annual Day of Reflection & regular administrative tasks.
- Assists with monthly Marriage Preparation Programs including registering & responding to engaged couples interested in attending a program, materials preparation, catering arrangements at select programs, and setting up and overseeing hospitality at select programs.
- Processes & sends congratulatory 1st Year Anniversary emails.
- Assists with arrangements for all marriage support retreats & programs including processing registrations, follow up, materials preparation, and catering arrangements, as needed.
- Assists with processing annual Anniversary Mass registrations, preparing certificates for participants and preparing programs.
- Assists with preparation of the monthly Joy of the Family newsletter through research and creative input.
- Supports and attends the 2 annual Rite of Election ceremonies including advance mailings, registrations, seating arrangements, hospitality, & other support at the events, as needed.
- Assists with preparation & reporting of parish Faith Formation statistics for inclusion in Kennedy Directory.
- Maintains Catechist Certification records and prepares & provides certificates to designated parishes.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Religious Education, Evangelization, or Theology or 5+ years parish ministry experience preferred.
- Must be a Catholic in good standing with knowledge of fundamental teachings of the Catholic faith, especially as related to marriage and family life.
- Outgoing & enthusiastic personality with ability to incorporate our Vision (3 B’s) into all interactions and activities.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
- Team-oriented and willing to pitch in where needed
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Excellent and professional telephone manner and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
- Adhere to the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality and able to exercise discretion and good business judgment.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
- Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
- Frequent use of both hands and fingers (i.e. typing)
- Frequent extended periods of sitting
- Occasional periods of standing, kneeling and climbing
- Occasional ability of minimal hearing (i.e. loud noises, sirens) and routine hearing (i.e. listening to others in conversation)
- Occasional time spent working closely with others
