Parish Receptionist – St. Patrick Catholic Church

St. Patrick Catholic Church is searching for a full-time Receptionist. (37.5 hours a week, 5 days a week).

Provides receptionist service for parish office:

  • Answers phone, answers general parish questions and  assists when able
  • Takes messages and/or refers callers to appropriate person
  • Welcomes and greets people who come to parish office
  • Schedules and takes requests for Mass cards, Sanctuary Lamp, and altar flowers
  • Prepares Mass announcements and Mass intentions
  • Prepares standard letters of eligibility for the Pastor
  • Coordinates sick calls and anointing of the sick 
  • Prepares labels and envelopes for mailings
  • Assists with photo copying or duplicating of materials as requested
  • Assists Director of Outreach registering new parishioners along with preparing and mailing welcome letter to new parishioners
  • Maintains parishioner files, and the Parish Database
  • Assists with copy work and trains others how to use office/clerical equipment.
  • Provides typing services, handles general correspondence and clerical support
  • Picks up and delivers staff mail
  • Assists the Sacramental Coordinator with maintaining the Sacrament books along with taking and fulfilling requests for replacement certificate copies
  • Oversees and inventory of office supplies. Order materials, supplies, equipment as needed
  • Records and makes changes to telephone recording as needed
  • Ability to relate well with people by phone or in person


  • AA degree
  • One year of office experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
  • Excellent and professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, department heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
  • Updates/re-records telephone system recordings for Liturgical Seasons and Holidays

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds, and or 15-44 pounds
  • Frequent use of both hands and fingers (i.e. typing)
  • Frequent extended periods of sitting
  • Occasional periods of standing, kneeling and climbing
  • Occasional ability of minimal hearing (i.e. loud noises, sirens) and routine hearing (i.e. listening to others in conversation)
  • Occasional time spent working closely with others
