Seminarians

Seminarians are men who are answering God’s call as they pursue Vocations to the Priesthood.

Seminarians of Palm Beach 2020-2021

Prayer for Seminarians

O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood. Enlighten the Bishop in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Director in molding them, and the professors in instructing them. Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps; so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom and heroes of sacrifice; steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man; apostles of Your glory and sanctifiers of souls. Amen.

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us.

Candidates from our Diocese attend one of the following seminaries:

St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami (undergraduate education)

St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach (graduate education)

Seminarian's Summer Assignments

The Diocese of Palm Beach Office of Vocations is excited to start a new initiative in support of its seminarians called “Seminarians Summer Assignments.” The journey to become a dedicated priest who will administer the sacraments is an important one, and the Diocese is honored to have eight men who are dedicating themselves to this important journey of understanding their calling. We encourage you to pray for these seminarians during their process of discernment.

Alain Waterman, is spending his summer at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola. He has been studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and was ordained a Transitional Deacon on April 25.

A native of Haiti, Alain spent several years in formation with the Redemptorist Order in his home country, and then made the transition to our diocese four years ago.

If you're a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, say hi to Deacon Alain to welcome him to your parish.

Armando Leon, is spending his summer at St. Helen Catholic Church and is working diligently on assisting our Hispanic ministry with various programs.

In the Old Testament, Samuel was awakened from sleep by the voice of God calling his name. In the New Testament, Paul was knocked off his horse. Does God call in this way today? Usually not. Armando describes his experience of call:
“I was very involved in my parish doing youth ministry and teaching C.C.D. and I was happy with that. But for some reason it wasn’t enough. I had a nagging feeling that I wanted to do more for people.”

If you're a parishioner of the St. Helen, say hi to Armando to welcome him to your parish.

Daniel Donohue, is spending his summer at St Jude Catholic Church. Dan has been studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary this year and is the Editor-in-Chief of Seeds of Hope https://www.svdp.edu/seeds-of-hope.

If you're a parishioner of St. Jude, say hi to Dan to welcome him to your parish.

Marc Gustinell (on the left) has been assisting at his home parish, St. Vincent Ferrer, this summer.  He has been studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary.

He is currently on a 30-Day retreat at the University of Mary in North Dakota (Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola) with fellow seminarins and staff.

If you're a parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer, say hi to Marc when he returns.

Maxwell Villwock has been studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and this summer is assisting at St. Luke Catholic Church, where he is doing live stream Facebook videos on Liturgy of the Hours and Vespers.

He attended the Stubenville Conference  in July and is pictured here (third from left) with two other seminarians and Fr. Mike Schmitz.

If you're a parishioner of St. Luke, say hi to Maxwell to welcome him to your parish.

Joshua Martin, has been studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary this year but will be spending his summer at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.

He says, "In St. Anastasia, I am getting to know the parishioners and altar serving in Mass. I’ve also had opportunities to find my rhythm of prayer to grow closer to Christ by praying with others."

If you're a parishioner of St. Anastasia, say hi to Joshua to welcome him to your parish.

Joseph Zarcone, is spending his summer at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. He has been studying at Saint John Vianney College Seminary Miami.

He said, "I have just completed my philosophical studies at Saint John Vianney College Seminary. During my time at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, I have helped in the office, prayed with parishioners, and made calls to those who cannot yet visit the parish. I also hope to make pastoral visits to the hospital within our boundaries. With the other available time, I have been able to make use of the parish library for self-study."

If you're a parishioner of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Fort Pierce, say hi to Joseph to welcome him to your parish.

Louis Padavano, is spending his summer at Historic St. Ann Catholic Church. He was studying at Saint John Vianney College Seminary Miami this past year.

He says, "Things are going well at St. Ann’s. I’m glad that the churches are open again. We are taking all the precautions necessary to do our best to ensure everyone’s safety, and people have been telling us that they feel very safe at St. Ann’s, which I am very happy about."

If you're a parishioner of St. Ann's Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, say hi to Louis to welcome him to your parish.
