Benefits Assistant - Pastoral Center
The Diocese of Palm Beach Pastoral Center located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL is searching for a full time Benefits Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Insurance & Employee Services in the administration of employee/retiree self-funded benefits plan (medical, vision, dental, life, long term disability, short term disability, voluntary benefits), and ACA compliance
- Enter data into HealthTrust billing system. Responsible for ensuring that data is current and accurate
- Enter data into online benefits website
- Data entry and filing maintenance of Diocese employees
- Process all accounts payable and submits to Finance in a timely manner
- Prepares and distributes monthly billing to all Diocesan entities for employee/retiree benefits contributions
- Communicate benefits to employees/retirees. Establish and maintain favorable employee relations by effective communication and responsiveness to the needs of employees
- Conduct research to resolve benefits questions/problems
- Enroll new hires and late entrants. Submit required accurate documents to third party administrators and insurance companies for enrollment or changes in coverages and other matters
- Assist the Director of Insurance & Employee Services in preparing for and conducting annual enrollment communications and new employee orientation, training programs, wellness clinics and workshops
- Process all EE termination from data bases in purging files
- Safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of all employee records
- Assist the Director of Insurance & Employee Services in scheduling and preparing documents for the Diocese of Palm Beach Health Trust Board meetings
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the Director of Insurance & Employee Services to include items such as typing, data entry, copying, distribution of documents, faxing, filing, archiving, processing incoming/outgoing mail, answering telephones and other task
- Make and maintain active EE files for all Diocese Employees
- Entry and processing of a changes in Health Trust and Benefits data bases
- Provide coverage for the Insurance and Employee Services Offices during the absence of the Director of Insurance & Employee Services
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of clerical experience in finance and accounting preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
- Excellent and professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls
- Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
- Ability to use office equipment (fax, computer, copier etc.)
- Reliable insured vehicle and ability to travel to locations within the Diocese of Palm Beach
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
- Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
- Frequent use of both hands and fingers
- Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
