Officers installed for southern deanery of the DCCW

HIGHLAND BEACH  |  The Southern Deanery of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women held its spring general meeting and installation of officers March 22, 2025, at St. Lucy Parish in Highland Beach, with parish representatives from Ascension, Holy Spirit, St. Joan of Arc, St. Lucy, St. Luke, St. Mark and St. Matthew. Also in attendance were Dorothy Harper and Teresa Cecil, president and vice president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, respectively.

More than 50 members gathered for Mass, the installation ceremonies, business meeting and luncheon. Tammy Farr, National Council of Catholic Women education committee chair, gave a presentation on growth of the national council since 1920. The Mass was celebrated by Father Andrew Brierley, pastor of St. Luke in Palm Springs and spiritual adviser to the Southern Deanery.

According to Denise Lamberti, Southern Deanery president, “It has been a real joy to work with our seven (council) affiliations over the past two years. These women work tirelessly for their church, community and diocese, and it was inspiring to see them grow in spirituality and leadership along the way.”

Lily Potito of the Ascension Council of Catholic Women will take over as deanery president for 2025-27.

A collection was taken for Catholic Charities’ Birthline/Lifeline pregnancy care centers, and a carload of diapers and other baby items will be delivered to their Boynton Beach office, thanks to the efforts of service co-chairs Beth Hartigan, of the St. Joan of Arc council, and Lu Ann Leonard, of the Ascension council.
