Full Time PreK Assistant - St. Clare Catholic School
St. Clare Catholic School is seeking a caring and enthusiastic PreK Assistant to join our early childhood team. The ideal candidate will support the classroom teacher in creating a nurturing, faith-filled environment where our youngest learners can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. The PreK Assistant plays a vital role in helping children develop foundational skills, supporting classroom routines, and fostering a love for learning through patience, creativity, and collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to class schedule and lesson plans unless other school events prevent it.
- Follow all guidelines in the faculty handbook regarding professional dress and personal appearance, always maintaining professionalism.
- Respect Catholic morals and values in and out of school and participate in all religious activities (even if not Catholic), excepting sacraments, while at work.
- Be aware of students identified with learning challenges and carry out accommodations as noted in the plan shared by the teacher.
- Assist and work with students on specific strategies to meet plans and goals.
- Help identify students needing extra support in any relevant area and report this to the teacher.
- Keep the classroom neat and orderly, store extra supplies when not in use, and ensure the classroom is clean at the end of each day.
- Assist with lunch, playground, aftercare, arrival, and/or dismissal duties as scheduled.
- Attend professional development organized by the school as requested of assistants.
- Fully participate in the reaccreditation process with the entire faculty as needed during the seven-year cycle.
- Participate as required in school events by working and attending those events.
- Be an advocate for and safeguard all students in our care; bring any concerns to administration or call the emergency DCF hotline if warranted.
Qualifications:
- Has completed or will complete the 45 hour requirement through the Department of Children and Families.
- Has completed the Protecting God’s Children course and has been fingerprinted by the necessary agencies.
- Proficiency in Google Email, Google Docs and willingness to learn
- Professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, department heads, representatives of other agencies and the public.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
- Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
Physical Requirements:
- Can climb and descend stairs
- Can lift to 25 lbs.
- Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
- Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
- Frequent use of both hands and fingers
- Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
