Part Time Maintenance Worker (20 hours per week) - Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Sacred Heart Catholic Church located in West Palm Beach; FL is searching for a Part Time Maintenance Worker (20 hrs. per week).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and maintenance of building and grounds, both scheduled and as needed, as directed by supervisor.
Assures the church and other parish buildings, grounds, parking lots, roads, are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
Assured the grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
Responsible for watering, blowing walkways, pressure cleaning, weeding, pruning and raking
Responsible for minor repair work and painting
- To maintain specific areas in Church building including but not limited to vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, polishing woodwork, cleaning windows and glass, emptying garbage, and bathroom stocking and cleaning.
- Assists/provides setup and teardown of facilities as needed
- Reports cleaning and grounds maintenance inventory needs to the supervisor
- Reports damage, repair needs, light bulb replacements, faulty equipment, etc. to supervisor for instructions on how to proceed
- Collects and disposes of trash and recyclables.
- Have on-call availability for emergencies. Have the ability to occasionally work at irregular hours and/or on weekends/holidays
- Opens, closes, secures facilities as directed by supervisor on schedule or as needed
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in maintenance
- Ability to use and understand the use of cleaning and other chemicals and maintenance equipment and tools
- Ability to read or follow simple directions/signs, and follow simple oral and/or written instructions in English Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capacity.
- Have general knowledge of janitorial and maintenance supplies and their applications, product labels and applicable manuals
- Have on-call availability for emergencies. Have the ability to occasionally work at irregular hours and/or on weekends/holidays
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public. Ability to work as a team.
- Must be self-motivated, work independently, multi-task, perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision, and make responsible judgement calls
- Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
- Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
Frequent light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
Frequent moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 50 pounds
Frequent use of both hands and fingers
Frequent extended periods of standing, kneeling, reaching, bending and climbing
Frequent extended periods working closely with others
Occasional ability of minimal hearing (i.e. loud noises, sirens)
Occasional climbing of ladders
Frequently working with cleaning chemicals and fumes, strong odors
