St. Jude Catholic Church, located in Boca Raton Fl is searching for a full time Director of Maintenance.

Summary

The Director of Maintenance will provide direction to the maintenance staff who care for the buildings and grounds of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Priory. With a staff of four, the Director of Maintenance will oversee the scheduling of maintenance employees work hours and the assignment of activities.   

The Director of Maintenance works in coordination with and reports to the Pastor, to insure the proper maintenance and care of the buildings and grounds.

Essential Communication Duties and Responsibilities:

• Detailed knowledge of janitorial procedures.
• Ability to use and understand cleaning chemicals and maintenance equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, AC equipment, including chillers, lawn sprinkler systems and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work unsupervised and create schedule for maintenance staff to follow.
• Ability to work with the Parish Executive Director on timeline for maintenance projects and provide budgets for projects.
• Responsible for providing timelines on repair or replacement of equipment for budgetary purposes.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry items less than 44 lbs; occasionally moderately lift from 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to multitask, for teamwork and of good relationships with other employees and contractors.
• Holds a valid Florida Driver’s license.
• Fluent in English.
• Must be able to pass background screening procedures as mandated by the Diocese of Palm Beach.
• Recruit and train new maintenance employees
•  Supervise the hiring, contractual agreements and payments of independent contractors approved by the Diocese of Palm Beach to provide work on campus.
• Supervise and be accountable for all maintenance budget expenditures.
• Ensure all vendors used for maintenance have been approved by the Diocese of Palm Beach.

Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in building and maintenance industry.
• Knowledge of current building code standards.
• Demonstrated success supervising diverse personnel in a fair, just, and consistent manner.
• Strong commitment to collaboration and creative solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully and efficiently delegate responsibilities to staff.
• Experience and familiarity with Catholic institutions, including parishes, schools, and the Diocese of Palm Beach.  
• Strongly self-motivated and self-sufficient; can lead and perform effectively with minimal support.
• An unquestioned reputation for integrity and ethics.
• Excellent communication skills, with diplomacy and credibility across multiple internal and external channels.
• High level of self-awareness: unselfish, providing credit to others, and receding when appropriate.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional moderate lifting and carrying of 15-60 lbs
• Frequent lifting and carrying of under 15 lbs
• Frequent walking, standing, kneeling and bending
• Occasional exposure to excessive heat
• Occasional walking on slippery or uneven surfaces
• Occasional working on ladders or scaffolding
• Occasional working with hand in water
• Frequent working closely with others and alone
