Encuentro welcomes hundreds

Fervent devotion is expressed during Eucharistic adoration at Encuentro 2025, led by Father Joaquín Fernández of the Heralds of the Gospel, May 25, 2025.

WEST PALM BEACH | More than 850 participants, representing numerous parishes in the diocese with Hispanic communities, gathered May 25 at Cardinal Newman High School for the 37th diocesan Encuentro, a day of formation, communion and mission.

The heart of the meeting was team reflection on Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Dilexit Nos,” dedicated to the human and divine love that springs from the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The encyclical invites all to return to the center of our faith: the redeeming love of Christ, manifested in his transfigured heart, as a source of hope, comfort and Christian commitment.

Father Joaquín Fernández of the Heralds of the Gospel offered an inspiring presentation about the Jubilee Year of Hope, which encourages people to take an opportunity for spiritual and evangelizing renewal.

The meeting culminated with a Mass with Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito and several priests of the diocese. Father Duván Bermudez, director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry, thanked everyone for their active participation, the diocesan team for their accompaniment and Bishop Barbarito for his presence. It was a moment of deep gratitude to the Lord for the gift of our faith, community and collective walk together as church.
