Help celebrate National Vocations Awareness Week

PALM BEACH GARDENS  |  The entire U.S. Catholic Church will celebrate National Vocations Awareness Week from Nov. 3 to 9, specifically encouraging young Catholics to consider the priesthood and consecrated life. It’s widely recognized that the church needs more priests and sisters. The key question is: How do we achieve that? There is no way other than inspiring young Catholics to cultivate a deep, genuine love for Jesus Christ and his church, and then accompanying them as they discern what is God’s will for their lives.

The Office of Vocations and Seminarians for the Diocese of Palm Beach has planned several events, including Holy Hours at parishes, visits to schools and colleges, and “come and see” events for men and women. The office hopes the events will provide young people with an opportunity to learn more about the vocations of priesthood and consecrated life, which may help in their future discernment. The centerpiece of this year’s Vocations Awareness Week is the launch of a Vocations Prayer Crusade, an effort to engage people of all ages to wholeheartedly pray for an abundance of priests and consecrated men and women to serve the future of the diocese.

Father Daniel Daza-Jaller, director of the Office of Vocations and Seminarians, said, “As the Scripture says, ‘Ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest’ (Matthew 9:38). The priests and consecrated persons are out there. God has not stopped calling. We only must ask.”

For information on vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, contact Father Daza-Jaller at 561-775-9552 or vocations@diocesepb.org, by visiting www.palmbeachvocations.com or following the Vocations Office on Facebook and Instagram.
