Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito and the USCCB Special Message on Immigration

Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito

Message on Immigration

During November, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Frances Cabrini, the Patroness of Immigrants. She was an incredible woman who came to New York from Italy and worked tirelessly for the needs of immigrants in the face of the many challenges they encountered. She is the first United States citizen to be canonized a saint.

In a special way, we ask for her intercession during this difficult time when so many of our immigrant sisters and brothers are suffering due to the immigration policies which are in need of urgent reform in our great nation of immigrants. On the eve of the Feast of Saint Frances Cabrini, the Bishops of the United States, during our annual fall meeting in Baltimore, issued a Special Message regarding the present situation needing attention and reform.

As we also celebrate Thanksgiving this month, may we be thankful for our nation which came into existence as a land of refuge and blessing for all. Saint Frances Cabrini, pray for us!
