Local healthcare workers blanketed with prayer

Father Dennis Gonzales prays over the physicians and nurses who participated in the White Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer in Delray Beach Nov. 15, 2025

DELRAY BEACH  |  A White Mass, dedicated to those working in health care, was celebrated Nov. 15, 2025, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach, with the pastor, Father Dennis Gonzales, who was trained and worked as a nurse, presiding.

The liturgy, which was also a healing Mass including anointing with holy oil, was sponsored by the Palm Beach Physicians Guild of the Catholic Medical Association, which was formed in 2016 as a forum for fellowship and guidance on complex biomedical and workplace issues.

“Today, we are grateful that our doctors and nurses join us,” Father Gonzales said. “They all accompany us. They are God’s instruments of relaying to us his healing grace. And this is an opportunity for us to say thank you to all of you for your patience, kindness and compassion.”

After the homily, Father Gonzales called forward all health care professionals and led them in renewing their promises to care for their patients in humble service, following the church’s teachings on health, faith and morals.

He prayed for Jesus “to bless them always. Grant them strength and good health as they care for others, for our sick brothers and sisters. Inspire them, knowing that their work is a vocation to serve and their work is a response to your call of service. We pray for them always and protect them, and also bless them in their work. Grant them wisdom and guidance to do the right things. And Lord, bless their hands so that they will be able to bring healing, mercy, comfort and peace to those lives they touch.”

Following the Mass, Father Gonzales and Father Danis Ridore, resident priest, anointed the faithful who came forward.
