As they journey toward their entrance to the Catholic faith at the Easter Vigil Mass April 4, 2026, 999 adults participated in two Rite of Election ceremonies Feb. 21 and 22, at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens. Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito expressed gratitude to them for inspiring him and many others as they continue their spiritual preparation through Lent. Among those adults, 345 are catechumens (those never baptized into any faith) and 654 are candidates for full communion with the Catholic Church (baptized but without receiving first Communion and/or confirmation). The individuals, from nearly all parishes in the diocese, were accompanied by their godparents or sponsors and family members.
