PALM BEACH GARDENS | As youth and young adults ages 16-39 have signed up to join the diocesan pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Seoul, South Korea, many of them have applied for aid to help them pay for the trip. A group of local donors have come through with contributions to a scholarship fund for the young pilgrims.
The WYD sponsors and their level of donations are:
The Norma T. Pace Foundation, St. Josephine Bakhita Patron ($100,000+).
Joseph Kasputys, Our Lady of Mercy and Peace Patron ($55,000+).
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Wind, St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon Champion ($11,000+).
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garvy, St. Therese of Lisieux Friendship Circle ($2,750+).
Marietta McNulty, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nieman, and Kristi Truong, St. Carlo Acutis Fellowship Circle ($500+).
Bishop Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez, who will travel with the WYD pilgrims, and the Diocese of Palm Beach are grateful for the generous outpouring of support. Anyone interested in contributing to the scholarship fund can donate on the WYD 2027 page of the diocesan website. All the faithful are urged to aid parish fundraising events for WYD as they take place over the next several months.
The deadline to register for the diocesan pilgrimage to South Korea has been extended from May 31 to midnight Tuesday, June 30, to allow more young adults to commit. The total package costs $5,499, with a $500 non-refundable deposit due at registration. For information and to register, visit the diocese’s WYD 2027 webpage and contact the WYD captain at your parish.
