Discover the inspiring story of those who gave their lives for the Catholic faith in Florida.
Florida's Catholic history is rich with stories of faith, missionary zeal, and extraordinary sacrifice. Among these are the stories of the Martyrs of La Florida, Native American Catholics and missionaries who gave their lives in witness to Christ between 1549 and 1715.
The Martyrs of La Florida Missions is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of these faithful witnesses, promoting devotion to them, and advancing the cause for the beatification of Antonio Inija and 57 Companions.
Their witness reminds us of the courage and perseverance of those who came before us and the enduring strength of faith, even in the face of persecution.
Honoring Their Legacy
The organization continues its mission of sharing the martyrs' stories, encouraging prayer for their beatification, and developing a shrine dedicated to Mary, Queen of the Martyrs, in Tallahassee, Florida.
With the cause for beatification now in Rome, the faithful are invited to learn about these remarkable individuals, seek their intercession, and pray for the advancement of their cause.
