Statement from Bishop Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez on the Tragic Plane Crash in Palm Beach County

Diocese of Palm Beach | November 2, 2026

I am deeply saddened by the tragic plane crash along Military Trail in Greenacres that claimed the lives of nine individuals. On behalf of the Diocese of Palm Beach, I extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this devastating tragedy.

As a community of faith, we mourn alongside those who are grieving and unite in prayer for all who have been affected. I am especially grateful to our firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and all first responders for their courageous and selfless service during this difficult time.

Today, on the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), I will offer the 10 a.m. Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery for the eternal repose of the souls of the nine individuals who tragically lost their lives in this plane crash. During this special celebration of the Holy Eucharist, we will also pray for their grieving families and loved ones, asking our merciful Lord to surround them with His love, consolation and peace.

I invite the faithful throughout our five-county Diocese of Palm Beach to unite with me in prayer for these nine souls, their families and all those affected by this tragedy. On this sacred day when the Church remembers and prays for all the faithful departed, may we find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and strength in our shared faith.

May our loving and merciful God welcome those who have died into His heavenly kingdom and grant comfort, healing and peace to all who mourn.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
