The Florida Catholic

Rite of Election

Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito thanked 452 people who are journeying toward the Catholic Church at two Rite of Election ceremonies Feb. 25 and 26 at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens. Of that number, 142 are catechumens (those never baptized into any faith) and 310 are candidates for full communion with the Catholic Church (baptized by not confirmed). The individuals, from most parishes in the diocese, were accompanied by their godparents or sponsors and family members. They will continue their preparation through Lent, leading up to their entrance to the church at the Easter Vigil Mass April 8.
