Catholics worldwide honored St. Francis of Assisi by blessing animals on or about his recent feast day. Father Gavin Badway, rector of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, presided at a brief ceremony Oct. 4, and Father Peter Truong, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Riviera Beach, did the honors Oct. 7, in both instances gathered around the statue of the saint, who had a special love for all creatures great and small.
