Background information on this endeavor:
In cooperation with Catholic Health Services of the Archdiocese of Miami, we have the opportunity to bring Catholic Hospice services to the people of Palm Beach County. The Archdiocese of Miami’s Catholic Hospice enjoys an excellent reputation for quality care in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
We are writing to ask for your support in helping Catholic Hospice provide quality hospice services to patients and families in Palm Beach County. To do so, the State of Florida requires them to obtain a Certificate of Need (CON). Part of this process requires them to obtain letters of support from the community. There are nearly 30 hospice providers applying for this CON, but Catholic Hospice is the most aligned with our ministry and Catholic values.

Here are some of the many reasons that we believe Catholic Hospice should have our support:
• Catholic Hospice, under the auspices of Catholic Health Services, is a non-profit hospice provider that is aligned with our mission to provide compassionate care in the image of Christ.
They serve all patients and families regardless of faith, race, gender, age, ethnicity, disability and other characteristics. Services are offered to all regardless of their ability to pay.
• Catholic Hospice’s staff and volunteers are very diverse and inclusive. 82% of their staff speak two or more languages, including English, Spanish, Yiddish, Hebrew, Creole, Russian, French, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. This is important as Palm Beach County becomes increasingly diverse.
• Catholic Hospice sponsors Camp Erin through a generous grant from the Eluna network. They work with children ages 6-17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one and are working through their grief.
• Catholic Hospice staff spend more “hours-per-day” with patients and families than other hospices in their service area. They employ an interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Physicians, Mental Health Professionals, Music Therapists, Priests, Chaplains, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to care. Their hospice volunteers donate hundreds of hours to the care of patients and families.
