Benefits After Retirement

Summary of Benefits

A Diocese of Palm Beach employee who retires and immediately begins to draw a pension benefit from the Diocese of Palm Beach Lay Employees Pension Plan is eligible to continue dental coverage upon retirement. The retiree can only continue the type of coverage they were carrying as an active employee. For example, an employee who covers himself or herself only, single coverage, can only continue to cover himself or herself, single coverage, as a retiree.

An employee who has coverage on themselves and their dependent(s) can continue coverage on themselves and their dependent(s) as a retiree. If the employee only has single coverage as an active employee, they cannot pick up coverage for their dependent(s) as a retiree.

The retiree must pay the full cost of the coverage for themselves and their dependent(s) as of the date of retirement.

A Diocese of Palm Beach employee who retires and immediately begins to draw a pension benefit from the Diocese of Palm Beach Lay Employees Pension Plan is eligible to continue $5,000 in term life insurance coverage upon retirement.

If the retiree had elected optional life insurance coverage (term life insurance coverage in addition to the basic term life insurance plan) while active, they will not be able to continue said coverage through the Diocese of Palm Beach. The retiree would contact the Benefits Office for information on who to contact regarding the possibility of converting Optional Life Insurance coverage to a direct pay policy.

Please contact the benefits office at 561/775-9525 or by email at smaulden@diocesepb.org for the retiree cost of the above mentioned benefits.
