Assistant Principal of Student Life - John Carroll Catholic High School

John Carroll High School located in Fort Pierce, FL is searching for a full time Assistant Principal of Student Life.

Full Time: 37.5 hours/week; Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

Additional Hours required on special events and occasional weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS

  • Work as a member of the leadership team in all aspects of campus life and general administrative operations.
  • Brainstorm and execute school-wide initiatives in conjunction with the Principal and Assistant Principal of Academics
  • Meet with parents, students, and community members regarding general school concerns
  • Update the GoogleCalendar with all JCHS activities for the school’s website, in conjunction with advancement associates
  • Manage use and access of JC Facilities calendar to ensure a sound room reservation structure.
  • Update and coordinate information boards daily on campus in conjunction with advancement associates.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in classrooms/offices when Director of Technology is unavailable.
  • Provide logistical support to all events including liturgies, Graduation, Open House, etc.
  • Complete and communicate Diocesan injury/accident reports for all related incidents.

STUDENT LIFE

  • Plan, implement, spearhead, and oversee the following annual student life events:
  • Student orientations
  • Off-field operations at all home varsity football games in conjunction with the Principal
  • Student Tailgates
  • Homecoming Week
  • Catholic Schools Week and All School Masses in conjunction with the Director of Campus Ministry
  • Junior/Senior Prom in conjunction with Junior Moderator
  • Senior Trip to Universal Orlando’s “GradBash” in conjunction with Senior Moderator
  • Seniors’ Last Week, including “Senior Prank” and “Seniors’ Last Day”
  • Baccalaureate Mass & Commencement Exercises in conjunction with Principal and Assistant Principal of Academics
  • Oversee and moderate all student organizations to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor the school’s common spaces during lunch and provide general supervision around campus throughout the school day, including arrival and dismissal and during transition periods.

DISCIPLINE

  • Coordinate with students, parents, teachers, and administrative team members in addressing recording, and communicating disciplinary infractions.
  • Write and follow through on discipline and attendance probation contracts when necessary.
  • Scheduling/administrating the school’s drug testing program.
  • Scheduling and monitoring the school’s detention program.
  • Compile and update policies of the Parent-Student Handbook that need changes, updates, and/or improvements for the following year.

SAFETY

  • Maintain the school’s safety and security protocols, in conjunction with the principal
  • Monitor and maintain the school’s security gates throughout the school day
  • Coordinate with and work alongside the school’s School Resource Officer when school is in session for safety reasons and other disciplinary concerns
  • Review and monitor the school’s surveillance camera system and footage
  • Oversee and manage the school’s keys and fobs for faculty and staff; maintain logs of key assignment and access

FRONT OFFICE

  • Sign in/out students when office manager is otherwise unavailable
  • Attend to guests or answer phones when office manager is otherwise unavailable
  • Gate troubleshooting and resolution; scheduling gates to open on weekends for events
  • Printing identification cards for staff and students

BUSING

  • Schedule and coordinate bus routes, drivers, and all bus trips throughout the school year for JCHS and for St. Anastasia; communicate with bus drivers regarding the weekly bus schedule, etc.
  • Assist in hiring and retaining drivers.
  •  All other tasks as assigned by the Principal.

Additional Job-Related Expectations and Duties:

  • Follow all policies and procedures written in the Faculty Handbook
  • Be punctual and reliable for all school events.
  • Attend morning prayer, school Masses, Open House, Baccalaureate Mass, and graduation; strive to attend and participate in John Carroll functions throughout the year.
  • Give advance notification and keep Principal apprised of off-campus appointments, always updating the school’s log book accordingly
  • Other school-related responsibilities as determined by the Principal

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or actively pursuing a Master’s degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, as well as Renweb / FACTS SIS
  • Excellent and professional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and make responsible judgment calls.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to use office equipment (fax, computer, copier, iPad, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds.
  • Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling.
  • Frequent use of both hands and fingers
  • Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
