Director of Development - St. Joseph Catholic School

St. Joseph Catholic School located in Stuart, FL is searching for a full time highly qualified, proven, and experienced Director of Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School and the Diocese of Palm Beach.
  • Work with the church and school to develop a strategic plan in line with the mission and vision of the church and school.
  • Develop and implement strategies to seek donors to contribute to the school and church’s fundraising campaigns.
  • Actively steward donors and build relationships with the community in order to grow the church and school fundraising capacity.
  • Oversee and maintain the donor database, and update accordingly.
  • Build relationships with donors through one-on-one meetings and individual phone calls in line with the strategic plan.
  • Coordinate and plan a variety of special events and fundraisers.
  • Solicit donations and sponsorships for all fundraising events.
  • Manage and organize volunteers to staff these events.
  • Oversee the general operations of each fundraising event, demonstrating strong attention to detail and advance preparation.
  • Manage the church and school’s online bidding platform.
  • Communicate with the church and school’s website content creator to ensure the church and school’s website are updated with the latest development information
  • Communicate the development updates to the church and school’s social media coordinator to ensure social media platforms are updated with development information.
  • Create graphic design projects as needed for advancement office, as well as for other departments within the school
  • Serve as the staff liaison, oversee and lead the school’s advancement committee of the School Advisory Council (SAC)
  • Participate in SAC meetings and hold bi-monthly committee meetings
  • Update and expand the alumni database of the school in order to build a strong Alumni Association.
  • Manage and promote the church and school’s “planned giving” opportunities, including bequests and family memorials
  • Think creatively and implement up-t0-date strategies to increase fundraising engagement with all stakeholders each year
  • Seek out and complete applications for applicable grants and other funding sources
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Pastor and Principal as well as members of the church and school team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven experience in raising funds and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Dedicated to the mission and vision of the church and school.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, as well as Adobe InDesign and other graphic design programs
  • Excellent and professional interpersonal skills, consistently exercise discretion, good business judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Affiliations with professional development organizations, such as Association of Fundraising Professionals, a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with school employees, coaches, parents, representatives of other agencies, and the general public
  • Strong organizational skills and capable of multitasking
  • Ability to use office equipment (fax, computer, copier, iPad, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
  • Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
  • Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capacity.
  • Ability to stay focused and organized.
  • Strong ethical values.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
  • Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
  • Frequent use of both hands and fingers
  • Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
