PORT ST. LUCIE - St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Port St. Lucie recently expanded their capital campaign efforts to include plans for the construction of a church building. The parish center, where Mass is currently celebrated, is reminiscent of an auditorium hall with no permanent seating. In addition, a nearby classroom building used by the parish’s religious education programs will also undergo repair and expansion.
The capital campaign was first launched in 2017 under the pastoral leadership of Father Son Linh Hoang. Since then, the capital campaign has flourished under now-pastor Father Andre Dumarsais Pierre-Louis’s leadership. Volunteers were sought to begin organizing fundraising events for the campaign and, parishioners Katherine Marquardt and Catherine Tifft agreed to be co-chairs.
Neither knew what to expect from the campaign but, were eager to get plans in place.
“When we came on board, so much had already been done by Father and the staff (Paula Warner, church secretary and Patty Williams, office manager and bookkeeper), we just needed to promote it,” Marquardt said.
