Longtime educators in Catholic schools honored

JUPITER  |  Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito celebrated Mass Feb. 16 and gave out awards to teachers in Catholic schools who have served at least 20 years in the Diocese of Palm Beach as of the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. St. Peter Parish and All Saints School hosted the event.

The instructors and their positions are:

20 years

Sandra Alfeo, pre-K teacher, St. Thomas More Academy, 11 years; pre-K teacher, Holy Cross Preschool and Center, nine years.

Michele Borgo, pre-K teacher, pre-K lead teacher and pre-K director, St. Ann School.   

Maria Garcia, Spanish teacher, St. Jude School.  

Julie May, elementary teacher, St. Juliana School.   

Karen Richmond, kindergarten teacher, five years; assistant principal for curriculum and instruction, 15 years, St. Anastasia School.  

Paula Stapleton, resource teacher, elementary teacher, middle-grade math teacher, St. Anastasia.

25 years

Father Tom Barrett, John Carroll High School president; Cardinal Newman High School religion teacher, four years.

Richard Casey, middle-grade math teacher and assistant to the principal, St. Jude; math and business teacher and five years as assistant principal for student life, St. John Paul II Academy.   

Erin Dilla, pre-K and elementary teacher, one year as interim principal, Hope Rural School.  

Maria Morgan, Spanish teacher and assistant to the principal, first-grade teacher, St. Helen School.   

Jennifer Mulhall, social studies teacher, six years as assistant principal, St. John Paul II.

Tim O’Hare, social studies teacher, St. John Paul II.

30 years

Frances McGinn, media specialist and technology support, St. Juliana.

35 years

Sally Gibson, English teacher, three years as English and Spanish teacher, Cardinal Newman.     

Deborah Hale, computer science teacher, media center teacher, home economics, speech and health teacher, Cardinal Newman.  

 40 years

William Jay Lower, activities director, athletic director, dean of students, Cardinal Newman; student activities director, athletic director, Pope John Paull II; physical education teacher, guidance counselor, St. Luke School.
