Church Asked to Participate in this Weekend's Statewide Day of Prayer for Unity in Florida

We are one human family, regardless of our national, racial, ethnic, economic, and ideological differences. As we pray for peace for both the Martin and Zimmerman families, let us also pray for and seek deeper unity in our families, neighborhoods and society, and for healing of the wounds that divide us.

Governor Rick Scott has issued a proclamation calling for a Statewide Day of Prayer for Unity in Florida on Sunday, July 21, as the public continue to mourn the loss of Trayvon Martin and react to last Saturday's verdict. The Governor's Office invited other leaders from Florida's faith community, including the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops to participate.

The Diocese of Palm Beach encourages the faithful in its five counties to join others in prayers for unity and peace, and to pray for all those affected.
