CGA Pilgrimage to Ireland

Join the Catholic Grandparents Association as we celebrate the 9th Annual World Meeting of Families (WMF) in the Emerald Isle!  Held every three years, Pope Francis selected Dublin, Ireland as the next location of the WMF. This event brings together participants from around the world. The theme will be :The Gospel of Family, Joy to the World!"

The Catholic Grandparents Association will host a Pilgrimage for those wishing to attend. The Group Leader will be Catherine and Steward Wiley. Perhaps you have heard Catherine speak in the Diocese of Palm Beach at one of the Grandparents Pilgrimage Masses or a local meeting of a CGA chapter in the Diocese of Palm Beach. Many wonderful events will be taking place at the World Meeting, as well as throughout Dublin. That includes Liturgical and Cultural Events, Testimonies, Lectures, and Workshops during the week - as well as Special Masses and Events in the evening! Not to mention the Opening and Closing Celebrations, and Concerts.

The Pilgrimage will begin with a flight from New York to Dublin where we will spend the week attending the WMF. Cost is $3,999. Your trip includes: Round-trip airfare from New York (JFK Airport); hotel stay in Dublin; breakfast and dinner daily; World Meeting of Family Registration and Event Fees; transportation by air-conditioned motor coach; assistance of a professional local Catholic guide(s); Mass Daily; and more.

Long known as the "Isle of Saints and Scholars", Ireland was the epicenter of Christian learning while the rest of Europe was in the Dark Ages. As the home of Saints Patrick, Bridget, Columba, and many more, Ireland also provides many faith-based attractions- from the Book of Kells, (an elaborately scripted 9th-century version of the Four Gospels), to the Knock Shrine (a leading Marian pilgrimage site), historic abbeys, cathedrals, churches, and high crosses.

About the World Meeting of Families:

The World Meeting of Families started in 1994, when Pope St John Paul II asked the Pontifical Council for the Family (now part of the Dicastery for Laity, the Family and Life) to establish an international event of prayer, catechesis and celebration that would draw participants from around the globe and that would help to strengthen the bonds between families and bear witness to the crucial importance of marriage and the family to all of society. The last one was held in 2015 in Philadelphia.

About the Catholic Grandparents Association in the Diocese of Palm Beach:*

The Diocese of Palm Beach’s Office of Marriage and Family Life is a chapter member of the Catholic Grandparents Association (CGA), and a sponsor of the CGA Chapters in our diocese. Monthly gatherings are held at different parishes. All grandparents are welcome to join us as we discuss grandparenting issues and share tips and tactics for passing along the faith to the younger generations. Regardless of where you live, all grandparents are welcome to attend any chapter meetings -- whether you grandchildren live near or far. The CGA is a private association of the faithful to provide support to grandparents and help as the pass on the faith in their families. Monthly chapter meetings are events filled with fellowship, prayer and discussion of passing on the faith. For details, call Kit Johansen 561-626-8027 or email.
