St. Peter Catholic Church

St. Peter Parish was established September 29, 1987, with the appointment of Father Charles E. Notabartolo as the founding pastor. The territory of St. Peter Parish was carved out of both St. Jude Parish in Tequesta and the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens. The first Mass was celebrated November 8, 1987 in the cafeteria of the old Jupiter High School. About 100 founding families joined the parish within the first year of its existence. Over the next four years, Mass was also celebrated in the cafeteria of Jupiter Middle School. On September 16, 1991, the first Mass was celebrated in the multipurpose building that presently serves as the parish hall. With the completion of the multipurpose center, the parish was able to accommodate many new activities in response to the growing parish and growing population in the town of Jupiter.

Ground was broken for the new church and it was completed in the fall of 2002, and the first Mass was celebrated December 21, 2002. In February 2003, Father Notabartolo was appointed vicar general of the Diocese of Palm Beach and Father Donald T. Finney was appointed the second pastor of St. Peter Parish.

Hispanic ministry and the Spanish Mass began at St. Peter parish in May 2003. In August of that year, the Guadalupan Missionaries of the Holy Spirit arrived at St. Peter Parish to lead the Hispanic ministry. St. Peter Parish was very influential in the establishment of Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center known as “El Sol,” which serves the immigrant community in Jupiter with job placement, and educational, vocational and health services.

In fall 2003, All Saints Catholic School, an interparochial school composed of six parishes, opened and began ministering to young people and their families in the area. The school has grades pre-K through eighth and has more than 600 students.

In fall 2007, a parish hall renovation was completed, which added eight new meeting rooms to accommodate the 70-plus ministries at St. Peter Parish. In November 2007, the parish celebrated its 20th anniversary with the dedication of the meditation garden on the western part of the parish campus.

Many younger families with children comprise the parish, which adds to a very large religious education program and youth ministry.

The current pastor is Father Donald T. Finney, assisted by Father Raymond Zielezienski. Father Jean W. Boulin and Father Wesler Hilaire are the parochial vicars. Deacon Don Battiston, Deacon Steve McMahon, Deacon Stephen Scienzo, Deacon Serge Dube, Deacon John Collins, Deacon John Bartalini and Deacon Dave Licata serve the parish.

The parish is located at 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, FL 33458.
